Let’s be real, Carr is a mediocre quarterback who hasn’t
been able to elevate this Saints offense, but he’s gone
over 300 yards in three-straight, and gets an overmatched Bears
defense that bleeds fantasy points to the position. Carr and the
Saints offense is slinging it the 6th most in the NFL, and with
just a little improvement in the red zone Carr is a viable starter
in weaker matchups. Along with byes and injuries, Carr qualifies
this week.
The bitter division rivals face off for the first time in 2023,
with Prescott coming off his best game of the season in a thrashing
of the Rams. He’s also had tremendous recent success against
the Eagles with 11 passing touchdowns in his last three games
against them. The Philly defense has given up some volcanic games
to quarterbacks this season, as their secondary has given up the
3rd most touchdown passes in the NFL, and have picked off an NFL
low four passes.
Fresh off their Week 7 bye, Burrow and the Bengal offense was
back in full force in their destruction of San Fran last week.
Burrow looked as fresh and spry as ever, rushing for the 2nd most
yards (43) in his career. Throw in a crisp 87.5 completion percentage
and an 8-2 touchdown to interception ratio over the last three
games, and the arrow is pointing up for Joe Cool. Next up is a
Buffalo defense that is beat up, and has had their stats padded
by a litany of poor quarterbacks.
Watching Levis’s highlights in his dynamic debut last week
against the Falcons reminded me of the workout videos that were
splashed all over social media prior to the draft. Bomb after
bomb falling into the hands of his receivers, his ability to throw
the deep ball helped Hopkins to just his 2nd 100-yard game this
season. Let’s pause the coronation though. Primetime in
the Steel City is a rough place for a repeat, don’t risk
it.
Despite a 9-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio (4-5 in the last
three games) the Seahawks have started 5-2 and lead the NFC West.
The Ravens are playing suffocating pass defense, as they have
yet to allow a 300-yard passer, and have yielded the fewest fantasy
points to the position. Trusting Smith on the road against this
defense is a tough ask.
Flawed as this offense and team might be, Herbert remains a weekly
top-10 option, but a road game on Monday night in Jersey should
temper any expectations. Bye weeks and misery plague the position
this week, so sitting Herbert is not an option, but look for yet
another ugly game in the Meadowlands.
