Grab a Helmet

Jonathan Taylor

Jonathan Taylor @ CAR

With nearly 100-yards on the ground in the first half last week it looked like Taylor was destined for his first monster game of the 2023 season, but an ankle injury(?), and a negative game script sunk him in the 2nd half. Zack Moss will remain a part of this committee, but look for Taylor to lead the way against a struggling Carolina rush defense that has given up the 2nd most points to the position.

Breece Hall vs LAC

Up until the last few seconds of the game, Hall was the only thing going for the struggling Jets offense. One of the true home-run hitting RB1s in the NFL, Hall should be the focal point of the game plan against the Chargers. Game script immune, but ceiling limited because of QB play and an injured line, Hall still remains a multi-format must-start.

Saquon Barkley @ LV

The Giants have certainly not been hesitant to give Barkley a massive workload since he returned from his ankle sprain. With a massive 81 carries and 10 receptions in three games, the “volume is king” mantra is in full effect. Plenty of lesser players have been fantasy assets with that amount of touches, and the Raiders have shifted into tank mode.

Grab Some Pine

Chicago RBs @ NO

With more funny coaching shenanigans, (the Bears RB coach was let go this week) and three backs vying for scraps on a struggling offense, like overripe grapes, this is a bunch to avoid. D’Onta Foreman exploded, then faded when rookie Roschon Johnson returned, only to watch the rookie tally just 31 total yards on 9 touches. 3rd stringer Darrynton Evans had the best day of the trio with 40 total yards and a touchdown. The rotation is unclear, and the roles clear as mud.

Dameon Pierce vs TB

A new running scheme, and an offense not afraid to sling it, has crushed the fantasy season of the promising 2nd year back. A times dominant last year, Pierce (ankle) is now ceding valuable touches to back-up level Devin Singletary. With a coach that won’t commit to him as the bell cow, and a nearly invisible role in the passing game, Pierce has become a score or bust FLEX at best.

Aaron Jones vs LAR

It’s fair to wonder if Aaron Jones will ever be truly healthy this season. Unable to really cut it loose because of a lingering hammy, Jones has merely been a role player the past two weeks. This Packer offense is struggling to find any identity, and the young core is suffering through some serious growing pains. Jones needs to become the centerpiece of this offense again, but I need to see it before I believe it.
