Sources to me and @RapSheet: The #Dolphins are placing QB Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve in order to give him ample time to progress through the stages of concussion protocol and meet with outside neurologists. The earliest Tagovailoa could return is Week 8 against the Cardinals, but the Dolphins are committed to placing no timeline on him as he works through a deliberate process and eventual return to play. FFToday's Take: While six-plus weeks would usually be more than enough time to recover from a concussion, Tagovailoa's history of brain injuries may keep him out longer. Either way, it's the prudent move to put him on IR and give him ample time to meet with as many outside neurologists as necessary to make the best decision for himself and his playing future. Skylar Thompson is expected to take over as the starter under center in the interim, although his presence is a downgrade for the entire offense.
