Sources to me and @RapSheet: The #Dolphins are placing QB Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve in order to give him ample time to progress through the stages of concussion protocol and meet with outside neurologists.
The earliest Tagovailoa could return is Week 8 against the Cardinals, but the Dolphins are committed to placing no timeline on him as he works through a deliberate process and eventual return to play. (NFL Network - Mike Garafolo)
FFToday's Take: While six-plus weeks would usually be more than enough time to recover from a concussion, Tagovailoa's history of brain injuries may keep him out longer. Either way, it's the prudent move to put him on IR and give him ample time to meet with as many outside neurologists as necessary to make the best decision for himself and his playing future. Skylar Thompson is expected to take over as the starter under center in the interim, although his presence is a downgrade for the entire offense.

FFToday's Take: While reunions with a team's former standout is almost always noteworthy, the 29-year-old Hunt has not been a good running back in either of the last two seasons behind what was a good offensive line in Cleveland. Hunt's arrival and eventual addition to the active roster figures to make it tough for fantasy managers to place any trust in Carson Steele and Samaje Perine while Pacheco is out. There is also a chance Clyde Edwards-Helaire joins the fray at some point, which could make this whole backfield almost useless from a fantasy perspective. For what it is worth, Hunt will likely be little more than insurance - probably stealing no more than five touches per game - while Pacheco is out.

FFToday's Take: This is quickly turning into a lost season for Lloyd, who missed most of camp with a hamstring injury before making his NFL debut in Week 2. The rookie will be sidelined for at least four games, which may be enough time for Emanuel Wilson to stake his claim to the backup job for the rest of the season. If not, Chris Brooks has shown enough in limited NFL work to do so. Lloyd's IR stint should further solidify Josh Jacobs as a bellcow runner in Green Bay.

FFToday's Take: There are conflicting reports on this one, as at least one source suggests Brown could have pushed to play in the team's Monday Night Football loss to the Falcons. Brown was ruled out early Sunday, however, which makes it more likely that he could miss at least another game. Fantasy managers would be wise to prepare for Brown to miss Weeks 3-4 just in case. DeVonta Smith figures to benefit the most in fantasy from his absence.

FFToday's Take: A "couple weeks" suggests that Samuel is dealing with a Grade 1 strain, since a Grade 2 strain usually means an athlete will be sidelined for at least a month. San Francisco will almost certainly rely more heavily on George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk in the passing game now without Samuel around. Jauan Jennings will start in Samuel's place and could be worth starting in deeper leagues. Considering how often Samuel was seeing work out of the backfield, look for rookie Isaac Guerendo to spell Jordan Mason.

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp will miss "an extended period of time" with a left ankle sprain, coach Sean McVay said on Monday.
Kupp left the Rams' 41-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday with the injury. He is a candidate for injured reserve, McVay said, which is a decision the head coach said the team expects to make either Monday or Tuesday. (ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop)
FFToday's Take: The Rams likely win the award for the most injury-ravaged team through two weeks. Los Angeles already has two offensive linemen on IR and are expected to put another there this week, joining Puka Nacua (knee). Because the Rams' bye week is Week 6, the earliest Kupp could return from IR is Week 8 (assuming he is placed there). Without Kupp and Nacua, Matthew Stafford will be forced to rely heavily on Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington.

Canales seems to have little confidence in opening up the playbook for Young and Young appears to have lost confidence in himself. Dalton may not be a miracle worker, but there is a decent chance he will breathe some life into the offense and Diontae Johnson in particular. Expect Dalton to lean heavily on Johnson and Adam Thielen immediately, starting in Week 3 against the Raiders.

FFToday's Take: We got word yesterday this may happen and now it has. McCaffrey was the overwhelming No.1 pick in fantasy football this season after the team projected this pre-season that McCaffrey to be fine for Week 1. That wasn't the case. Jordan Mason is looking more and more like a league winner with each passing day. Deebo Samuel Samuel should take on more of the rushing workload in the short-term until the team becomes more comfortable with rookie Isaac Guerendo who missed a good chunk of camp with an injury of his own.

After multiple imaging studies, it was determined that, although Hollywood felt better, his injury was not healing correctly. Without corrective surgery, he would risk a more serious long-term injury.
The surgery is scheduled for Monday with Dr. Peter Millett in Vail, CO, and the Chiefs will monitor his rehab progress throughout the season. (Jordan Schultz on X)
FFToday's Take: Not great. We were originally expecting Brown to return in Week 3 but now the Chiefs must rely on rookie Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson as the starters opposite Rashee Rice. It's unclear how quickly he can return but the earliest would be Week 7 against the 49ers as the Chiefs have a bye in Week 6. It's also an option that he won't see the field this season. Worthy is solidified as a weekly Flex option with this news.

FFToday's Take: Good ole Jerry might be optimistic, but that does not mean fantasy managers should be. Even the most minor MCL sprains tend to sideline players 2-4 weeks, so it would be a major upset for Ferguson to play through this injury. At the very least, he would not be a great candidate to create separation or do much with the ball in his hands once he got it. Managers would be wise to let him prove his health and go in another direction for at least one week. Luke Schoonmaker would likely draw the start if Ferguson is ruled out.

FFToday's Take: According to Shanahan, the tendinitis is the main issue and the severity of it is what is holding CMC back. ESPN's Adam Schefter suggested managers should plan to be without McCaffrey again in Week 2 versus the Vikings, although it is important to note that CMC is considered day-to-day for now. While he is not in McCaffrey's class as an all-purpose back, Jordan Mason stepped up in a big way in Week 1 and belongs in the fantasy RB1 discussion in Week 2 if McCaffrey sits again.

Moore and Keenan Allen and should allow Cole Kmet to see a few more targets as well.

FFToday's Take: While this is not a season-ending bad kind of injury for Nacua, it is not a great sign that he was unable to make it through a full game after going the rest-and-rehab path for about a month in August. Fantasy managers should probably not expect Nacua to return before the start of October. Tyler Johnson filled in very capably after Nacua's exit and appeared to be the direct backup for Nacaua - as opposed to preseason standout Jordan Whittington - and should be targeted on waivers this week. Cooper Kupp should continue to see alpha usage moving forward, while Demarcus Robinson should also enjoy a slight bump in his fantasy stock.

FFToday's Take: The Packers are not expected to bring in another quarterback, so it appears Green Bay is comfortable going with Malik Willis for the next month. Willis has been with Green Bay for less than two weeks. While HC Matt LaFleur has proven himself to be a strong play-caller, fantasy managers need to downgrade every pass-catcher in Green Bay, which figures to rely more heavily on Josh Jacobs for the next month.

FFToday's Take: Given how bad Deshaun Watson looked again versus the Cowboys, Njoku may not have had much upside even if he was healthy over the next month. Jordan Akins will likely absorb most of the snaps at tight end in Njoku's absence. With that said, it is hard to get overly excited about any pass-catcher for the Browns right now - outside of Amari Cooper and maybe Jerry Jeudy.

Kenneth Walker was not, however, on the field late in the fourth quarter due to what was announced as abdominal pain. But after the game, Walker said he was fine when asked about the injury.
"I'm good," he said.
When Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald was later asked if Walker was OK, he said, "We think so, yeah. He got a little muscle thing. We'll see, we'll figure it out moving forward, but optimistic." (Seahawks.com - John Boyle)
FFToday's Take: There is not much information to go on here regarding Walker's injury, so we will have to assume his and Macdonald's optimism is legitimate for now. For what it is worth, Walker took questions ina presser after the game, so the injury has to be relatively minor. Zach Charbonnet finished out the game in Walker's stead and logged 23 offensive snaps, but it was clearly Walker's backfield for the most part before he left the game.

To his credit, he healed quickly from that injury, but it would be a lot to ask for him to play against the 49ers in Week 2. Jalen Nailor filled in very capably for him and is worth stashing in all but the shallowest of leagues after he enjoyed a strong preseason with the team.

#Packers QB Jordan Love suffered an MCL injury in Friday’s loss to the #Eagles in Brazil, per sources. The ACL is OK. The timeline for Love’s return is TBD. They’ll gather additional info. But all in all, good news for the #Packers’ franchise QB. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Love left Friday night's game against the Eagles with 5 seconds left in the contest after getting tackled awkwardly by two defenders. He will undoubtedly miss games but the injury is not expected to be season-ending. Malik Willis is currently the backup QB for the Packers. He's never been a fantasy asset and his presence will downgrade the values of the entire Green Bay offense.

FFToday's Take: Wilson was added to the injury report Thursday with a calf issue and was listed as a limited participant on Friday. Reading the tea leaves, it appears that Wilson is going to sit this week which means Justin Fields is likely to get the start against the Falcons. Fields rushing ability puts him on the fantasy radar but he would be an uncomfortable play given his shortcomings as a passer.

Josh Downs ruled Out for Week 1

The Colts on Friday ruled out wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle) for their Week 1 game against the Houston Texans on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Downs, who sustained an ankle injury during an Aug. 7 training camp practice, did not participate in practice this week. Head coach Shane Steichen said Downs is progressing well and added the team hopes to have him back sooner rather than later. (Colts.com)
FFToday's Take: Downs is going to have to get some practice time in before getting on the field on Sunday's. Expect rookie Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce to have a larger role in Downs' absence but both are nothing more than flex options in an offense that may have limited pass attempts.

Zac Taylor says Higgins had little hamstring “tweak” yesterday. As far as him playing Sunday: “We’ll see.”

FFToday's Take: Chase spoke to the media today and declared himself a gametime decision and that he'd likely be limited if he does play. Tee Higgins popped up on the injury report yesterday with a hamstring issue which is a familiar ailment for him. He'll likely be listed as Questionable when the injury report comes out later today. Chase now sits in the WR2 category for Week 1 while we wait for more clarity on Higgins.

Something to watch for Sunday: #Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that QB Russell Wilson reported some calf tightness and is going to get checked out by doctors. He was limited in practice. (Ian Rapoport on X)
FFToday's Take: Wilson was bothered by a calf injury in camp so this will be something to watch as we get closer to Sunday. For now, there are no indications that he will miss Week 1. If he did, Justin Fields would be the starter at quarterback for the Steelers.
