Bye Weeks: N/A
Garcon's best fantasy performance last
season (144 yds, 1 TD) came with Kirk Cousins under center.
Grab a Helmet
Pierre
Garcon @ PHI I missed hard last
week with my pass catchers, but like a DB that gives up a long
touchdown, you line up a do it again. So here comes Pierre Garcon
to the rescue. In the three games Kirk Cousins started at the end
of 2013, Garcon put up a 24-329-2 line, on a gaudy 38 targets. These
numbers suggest to me that Cousins and Garcon won’t suffer any chemistry
issues this week in Philly. With the Eagles defense likely keying
on DeSean Jackson, look for Garcon to make a few big run after the
catch plays down the middle of the field, and find the end zone.
Although he is off to a slow start, this might be the week Garcon
puts up WR1/2 numbers.
Vincent
Jackson @ ATL (Thu): With only 8 catches for 87 yards
through two games, Jackson has been a colossal disappointment for
owners who drafted him as a WR2. The Tampa Bay passing game just
isn’t clicking, but a frolic around the burnable Atlanta secondary
could be just want the fantasy doctor ordered. The Falcons are surrendering
more than 300 yards a game in the air, and simply can’t generate
a decent enough pass rush to make up for a poor secondary. Look
for Jackson to hit a least one big play this week, and find the
end zone for the first time in 2014.
Davante
Adams @ DET: It’s time to step up and be a true Shot
Caller in this slot, so how about Davante Adams as my deep sleeper
start of the week. Receivers have been fairly status quo, and healthy
this season, so Adams might not be able to wiggle his way into lineups
this week, but there is some value potential, especially in deep,
three-WR leagues. Adams quietly caught 5 of his 7 targets for 50
yards in a tight game against the Jets and may have leapfrogged
Jarrett Boykin for the No.3 slot in Green Bay. The game against
the Lions has shootout potential, and Adams could get loose against
a leaky secondary that will focus their resources on Nelson and
Cobb.

Allen
Hurns, Cecil
Shorts, Marqise
Lee v. IND: After being a revelation in Week 1, Allen
Hurns returned to being, well Allen Hurns. Cecil Shorts is still
dealing with a hamstring injury, Mercedes Lewis is out for 6 weeks
with an ankle injury, Allen
Robinson is playing like a rookie who missed all of training
camp, and Marqise Lee is playing like, well, just not very well.
Not only is this crew raw, hurt, or just not good enough, you
compound that by trotting out an offensive line that can’t block
anyone. Until Blake Bortles comes in and starts flinging the ball
around the field, keep any Jaguar receiver far away from your
lineup.
Victor
Cruz v. HOU: After being forced to watch this dreadful
Giants team the last two weeks, (thank goodness for the NFL Redzone!),
I just can’t advocate starting any Giants pass catcher not named
Larry Donnell (who?). Expected to approach 100 catches this year
as a slot machine threat, Cruz might approach 100 drops. He leads
the league with 4 drops on only 16 targets (25% drop rate), and
seems to be thinking too much. He’s done very little with the
passes he has held onto, so at until you see otherwise, keep Cruz
on your fantasy bench.
Torrey
Smith @ CLE: Another receiver that many expected to
ascend to borderline WR1 status, Torrey Smith has been nearly
invisible over the first two games. Mustering only 4 catches on
10 targets, is it safe to wonder if T.Smith is playing second
fiddle to S. Smith? Torrey is sure to see lots of Joe Haden this
week, and hasn’t scored against Cleveland since 2012. Smith
is another player I need to see perform before I’d feel
comfortable getting him into my lineup.
Out of the trainer’s room and into the end zone…Good
luck everyone!
