With Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney failing to show much development since joining the Chiefs, the team invested a first-round pick on Worthy. At 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, Worthy is a lithe target that offers elite speed, running the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds in the lead up to the draft. He's very much cut from the same cloth as Brown, which begs the question whether Kansas City views him as a replacement in 2025 or a complement this fall. It's also fair to wonder if they feel comfortable deploying two such undersized wideouts at the same time with any regularity.

Worthy's path for fantasy value this year isn't as clear as Rice or Brown, as he'll need to prove he's ready for more than just occasional snaps. Toney and Moore are still young enough to push for time here, and Justin Watson (27-460-3) was quietly solid last year -- Watson also stands 6-foot-2, and weighs 215 pounds, making him a more capable blocker. There's definite upside with Worthy based on his blazing speed and the presence of Mahomes, but don't consider him as more than a WR5.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Marquise Brown headed to IR, Surgery needed
Out at least 4 weeks, likely more
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 13, 11:18 am

Kansas City Chiefs
Sources: The #Chiefs are placing WR Marquise Brown on IR, and he will undergo surgery to repair his dislocated SC joint. After multiple imaging studies, it was determined that, although Hollywood felt better, his injury was not healing correctly. Without corrective surgery, he would risk a more serious long-term injury. The surgery is scheduled for Monday with Dr. Peter Millett in Vail, CO, and the Chiefs will monitor his rehab progress throughout the season. (Jordan Schultz on X)

FFToday's Take: Not great. We were originally expecting Brown to return in Week 3 but now the Chiefs must rely on rookie Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson as the starters opposite Rashee Rice. It's unclear how quickly he can return but the earliest would be Week 7 against the 49ers as the Chiefs have a bye in Week 6. It's also an option that he won't see the field this season. Worthy is solidified as a weekly Flex option with this news.

Chiefs bring back WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
End of the road for Kadarius Toney?
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Aug 26, 9:00 am

Kansas City Chiefs
Reunion: Veteran WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is signing with the #Chiefs, per source. (Tom Pelissero on X)

FFToday's Take: This signing is likely for a minimum contract and does raise some concern around a potential suspension for Rashee Rice. But, we have no news on that at the moment. This move also likely signals the end of the road for Kadarius Toney in Kansas City, but we'll get confirmation on that as the NFL trims their rosters by 3 PM tomorrow. JuJu isn't likely to have much fantasy impact behind Rice, Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy.

Injury Marquise Brown discharged from hospital, shoulder injury
Expected to miss some time
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Aug 11, 9:46 am

Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs WR Marquise Brown, who suffered a dislocation of his sternoclavicular shoulder joint Saturday night, was discharged from a Jacksonville-area hospital this morning and now has been cleared to return to Kansas City. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Brown is expected to miss "some time" according to head coach Andy Reid. Former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill missed four weeks back in 2019 with a similar injury. Fantasy owners should be prepared for Brown to miss a couple games to start the season. We should see the fantasy stock of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy rise over the next few weeks.
