A first-round pick in 2024, Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt just prior to the start of the season and wound up missing six games as a result. As you'd suspect, his numbers weren't great, finishing with a 31-400-3 line. He closed strong, however, catching 14 passes for 210 yards and a pair of touchdowns over the final two weeks. While it's always a bit dangerous to get read too much into late-season production (for example, Patrick Taylor had 121 yards in Week 18 and faces an uphill battle to even make the team in 2025), there's no doubt that Pearsall has talent.
When the 49ers selected him, many suspected the Florida alum was taken with an eye on the future, and with Samuel gone the opportunity to become a major part of the offense is here. Shanahan can be notoriously tough on young wideouts, so we'll see if Pearsall can ingratiate himself quickly. The arrival of veteran Demarcus Robinson provides the team some depth at the position, though he feels more like a stopgap until Aiyuk can return from injury.
In breaking down the 49ers' receiving corps, Jennings looks to be the higher-floor, lower-ceiling candidate while Pearsall has a bit more boom or bust in his outlook. If he can lock down the slot, his speed and height could make him a problem for opposing cornerbacks both downfield and in jump ball situations. As your fourth or fifth receiver, Pearsall offers interesting upside.

Purdy, Pearsall expected to play in Week 11 Both haven't played since Week 4 By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 13, 6:03 pm

| | Quarterback Brock Purdy will return to the starting lineup Sunday vs. the Cardinals, Kyle Shanahan just said during the taping of the 49ers Game Plan. (Matt Maiocco on X)
FFToday's Take: Purdy has played in just two games this season and hasn't played since Week 4. He's been dealing with a toe injury suffered in Week 1. This will send Mac Jones back to the bench. We should also see WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) return to action who also hasn't played since Week 4. The 49ers travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals this week who will be without Marvin Harrison Jr.

| Ricky Pearsall could practice soon Knee injury has sidelined WR since Week 4 By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 10, 7:30 pm

| | The 49ers are hoping to get Ricky Pearsall (knee) back for practice this week. (The Athletic - Matt Barrows)
FFToday's Take: Pearsall has been snakebit since entering the league, to say the least. There was the gunshot wound last summmer, two hamstring injuries during the late spring and early summer and this knee strain that has shelved him for nearly two months. It is hard to know what exactly to expect from him when he returns, but he has performed like a solid WR2 option in the limited time he has been healthy as a pro. If the practice reports on him are good this week, he may be worth considering as a flex option.

| Purdy & Pearsall Out for 49ers, Mac Jones to start George Kittle expected to play By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 17, 3:00 pm

| | 49ers ruled out QB Brock Purdy (toe) and WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) for Sunday night’s game against the Falcons.
49ers QB Mac Jones starts again. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Jauan Jennings is off the injury report which is curious considering he's dealing ankle, shoulder and rib injuries. George Kittle (hamstring) is set to be activated off injured reserve on Saturday and will play as well. Mac Jones is averaging 313 yards in his four games this season. He'll have a difficult matchup against the Falcons who've given up the 5th fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks.

| Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall Out for Week 6 Mac Jones questionable with knee injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 10, 5:10 pm

| | 49ers ruled out QB Brock Purdy and WR Ricky Pearsall for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.
49ers QB Mac Jones starts again. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Jones has started three games already for San Francisco, finishing as the QB7, QB13 and QB10. The Bucs are a good matchup, allowing the 7th most fantasy points to QBs. Ricky Pearsall has been ruled out, but Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib) is expected to return, after getting in two limited practices this week. Jennings and Kendrick Bourne should be the top two targets for San Francisco this week.

| Brock Purdy misses practice Thursday Toe injury By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 9, 4:06 pm

| | 49ers QB Brock Purdy also not practicing today due to his toe injury, putting Mac Jones on track to start Sunday at Tampa. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Purdy missed Week against the Jaguars and appears to be headed for the same fate in Week 6. In his absence, Mac Jones will get the call who's been battling a knee issue much of the season. That didn't stop him from posting a 342-2-0 line against the Rams however. He'll be a middling QB2 option with no rushing upside this week against the Bucs. Jauan Jennings (ribs, ankle) was able to return to practice Thursday but Ricky Pearsall missed and is unlikely to play this week.

| Jauan Jennings expected to play but could be limited 49ers receiver dealing with ankle and shoulder issues By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 27, 11:17 pm

| | Both 49ers WRs listed as questionable for Sunday - Ricky Pearsall (knee), Jauan Jennings (shoulder, ankle) - are expected to play Sunday vs. the Jaguars, but Jennings also is likely to be limited, per sources. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Jennings missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, then got in a limited session on Friday after missing Week 3 with ankle and shoulder injuries. He's going to be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups this week given the "likely to be limited" quote from Schefter. Brock Purdy will be back in at quarterback and we expect Pearsall to lead the team in receiving.

| Jauan Jennings Out for Week 3 Shoulder, ankle injuries By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 21, 11:22 am

| | Sources: 49ers WR Jauan Jennings, listed as questionable for today’s game vs. the Cardinals due to shoulder and ankle injuries, will not play and will be out.
49ers QB Brock Purdy also will be out due to his toe injury. Adrian Martinez will back up starting QB Mac Jones. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Jennings missed practice all week and was listed as Questionable on the injury report. Not that he will miss, the 49ers are expected to have Ricky Pearsall and Kendrick Bourne as their top two wideouts. Pearsall is a mid-range WR2 on this news while Bourne would be a flex dart throw if you're desperate at that slot in your lineup.

| Jauan Jennings expected to play Week 2 Shoulder injury By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 14, 8:36 am

| | 49ers WR Jauan Jennings, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a shoulder injury, is expected to play vs. the Saints, per source.
49ers LT Trent Williams, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee injury, will test his knee in pre-game warmups to see if he can play. If he can’t, Spencer Burford would replace Williams at left tackle. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Jennings got in a limited practice on Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday. We're expecting Ricky Pearsall to lead the San Francisco wideouts in targets this week with Mac Jones at quarterback. Jennings is a risky flex option given his injury.

| George Kittle likely to miss multiple games Suffered hamstring injury early in opener By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 8, 11:10 pm

| | 49ers Pro Bowl TE George Kittle is expected to be sidelined multiple weeks with a hamstring injury. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)
FFToday's Take: Kittle logged only 21 snaps but was targeted on four of the 14 pass plays he was on the field against the Seahawks, which speaks to how big of a day he could have had. He still managed four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown. Brock Purdy appears to be in some doubt for Week 2 after suffering (and playing through) a toe and left shoulder injury in Week 1, while Jauan Jennings is in a similar boat after he hurt his shoulder. Fantasy managers should expect Christian McCaffrey and Ricky Pearsall to handle most of the work in the passing game until Kittle returns.
