There was a time that Dobbins looked like a future star, averaging 6.0 yards per carry as a rookie. That time may have passed. The former Buckeye has been absolutely ravaged by injuries, logging only nine games during the past three seasons combined. Last year, it was a torn Achilles' tendon in Week 1 that brought his campaign to an abrupt close after just eight carries. Prior to that, a torn ACL cost him all of 2021 and then required a clean-up procedure, dogging him throughout 2022.
When he entered the league, Dobbins looked like a top-tier back, displaying a dangerous blend of speed and power. He claims to be fully recovered from his most recent setback, though following two major injuries it remains to be seen how much burst remains. Dobbins has the higher ceiling -- his 5.8 yards-per-carry average is league's best among players with 200 or more carries since he entered the NFL -- but the downside is considerable. As your RB4, maybe he's worth the risk.

Gus Edwards Out for Week 17 Ankle injury By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 26, 2:35 pm
| | #Chargers RB Gus Edwards (ankle) is out for Saturday vs. New England. RB J.K. Dobbins is questionable. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: The Chargers face off with the Patriots on Saturday. Dobbins just had his 21-day practice window opened this week and got in three limited practices. If he's activated off IR, he'll likely get the start and handle the bulk of work at the RB position with Kimani Vidal mixing in.
| J.K. Dobbins week to week with sprained MCL Chargers lose starting RB By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 27, 11:02 am
| | Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins sprained his MCL and is expected to be out Sunday vs. the Falcons and week to week moving forward, per source. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Dobbins will definitely miss Week 13 and likely more with a sprained MCL. Gus Edwards, Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins are next up on the depth chart. Vidal was Inactive last week but is the best pass catcher of this group so he should work behind Edwards in Week 12 against the Falcons. Edwards can be considered a Flex option but doesn't have much of a ceiling.
