Coming off a career year in Miami and united (for the 3rd time) with his former coach, Smith lands in the catbird seat this season. The Steelers failed to upgrade the receiver room outside of adding Metcalf, so they added the next best thing, a tight end who moonlights as a receiver, as Smith slides right into a primary pass-catcher role. His 88-884-8 line from a year ago came out of nowhere, as they smashed previous career highs. Smith's other best seasons came with Arthur Smith designing the offense, so you know he's been handpicked to play a significant role. Aaron Rogers loves to utilize his tight ends, especially to pepper the middle of the field, and down the seam, as he made Tyler Conklin relevant at times last year. There is almost no chance Smith comes close to his numbers from last season simply because the Steelers won't be as pass heavy, and the presence of Pat Freiermuth means less redzone chances, but if you are fading or streaming the position, Smith is certainly a worthy option.

TE Darren Waller comes out of retirement, headed to Miami Giants receive late-round draft pick By: Mike Krueger | Tue Jul 1, 11:21 am

| | Trade: Dolphins are trading a conditional 2026 sixth to the New York Giants for a 2027 seventh-round pick and Darren Waller.
Waller is coming out of retirement after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Dolphins worth up to $5 million, per Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: The Giants still held the rights to Waller which is why a trade was necessary. The Dolphins had a void at the position after trading Jonnu Smith to the Steelers yesterday. Waller (32) had his best season in 2020 and has battled to stay on the field ever since. He'll hold some weekly TE2 value when healthy, but will be the fourth target on the offense behind Achane, Hill and Waddle.

| PIT adds Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith in trade with MIA Dolphins receive Minkah Fitzpatrick By: Mike Krueger | Mon Jun 30, 11:46 am

| | The Miami Dolphins have traded three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a pick swap, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. As part of the trade, the Dolphins are sending a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Steelers and will receive a 2027 fifth-round pick back from Pittsburgh. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: The Steelers are loading up the season for a one=year run with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Jonnu (88-884-8) is coming off his best season as a pro that saw him finish as the TE4 in Half-PPR leagues. The Steelers were in need of another playmaker on offense after trading WR George Pickens to the Cowboys. OC Arthur Smith is familiar with Jonnu from their time in Altanta. This moves puts a damper on TE Pat Freiermuth's upside in Pittsburgh.
