2024 Outlook

Depth Chart

Evan Engram was an integral piece of the Jaguars offense last season. He worked the shallow portion of the field, acting as Lawrence's safety blanket. This role allowed Engram to break the record for receptions by a TE in a single season, finishing with 114 catches on 143 targets.

Heading into 2024, there has been discussion of Engram getting more involved as a vertical receiver. This does nothing but help his fantasy value by allowing him to produce chunk plays. But his floor remains safe because he will once again be a focal point of the offense, regularly seeing underneath targets. 140 targets should not be expected, but somewhere in the range of 120 is completely reasonable. This volume will allow him to be a valuable TE once again, particularly in PPR leagues.

The Jaguars have released TE Evan Engram, per a league source. (Michael DiRocco on X) FFToday's Take: Another cost-cutting move by the Jaguars who clear $6 million in cap space with this transaction. The team is reshaping their receiving corps with Engram (30 years old) and Christian Kirk now departing. Engram managed to play in just 9 games last season after turning his best season as a pro back in 2023 (114-963-4). Brenton Strange is now in the driver's seat to be the starting TE in Jacksonville for 2025.

Jaguars HC Doug Pederson announced that TE Evan Engram will undergo season-ending surgery for a torn labrum. (Adam Schefter on X) FFToday's Take: Engram missed the first two practices of the week and now will miss the remainder of the season. This puts and end to a disappointing 2024 campaign for Engram who finished as the TE6 last season, leading the position with 114 receptions. Brenton Strange will likely take on a larger role at TE for the Jaguars over final weeks but won't be a recommended fantasy option.

HC Doug Pederson said Wednesday he anticipated Engram playing this week. LG Ezra Cleveland (knee), RG Brandon Scherff (knee/shoulder) were limited. (Michael DiRocco on X) FFToday's Take: Engram missed practice on Wednesday as well. He's been a fantasy disappointment this season as has most of the Jaguars skill players. Engram has just 1 TD on the season and currently sits as the TE17 in half-PPR scoring.
