Due to the popularity of the Big Boards, it was decided that I needed
to start them a week earlier than usual.
All kidding aside, I spent the better part of the summer breaking
down each position for dynasty owners in PPR leagues. We began
with the top 50 quarterbacks,
moved on to the top 75
running backs, continued on to the top
75 receivers and wrapped up with the top
50 tight ends. As expected, the NFL stops for no one and very
little ever stays the same. So it should come as no surprise that
while the season-ending injuries to Jeremy Maclin and Dennis Pitta
led to the biggest changes, I have moved a number of players up
or down in my rankings after taking another look at my position-by-position
analysis.
While this Big Board will lack all the pretty colors and projections
of my usual August articles, there was no less thought put into
ranking the players. Just as I typically say in regards to my
redraft Big Boards, my dynasty rankings below will probably perplex
and surprise some readers. While it is important to me that my
rankings are of the highest quality, it is more important to me
they stimulate thought. It’s never a bad idea to question
your own rankings (or have others question them) – it is
the very reason why I submit three Big Boards for redraft purposes
during the preseason.
With that said, let’s get to the rankings, which are based
on PPR leagues where all touchdowns are worth six points. I stopped
at 180 players in order to give owners in 12-team leagues: 1)
15 full rounds worth of players to draft and 2) at least two quarterbacks,
five running backs, five receivers and two tight ends from which
to choose. The age listed will be the player’s age on September
1, 2013.
